Bay State Fencers History
In 2004 L. Stacy Eddy established Bay State Fencers as Boston's first urban fencing club and fencing academy in the metropolitan area in 35 years. His mission was, and continues to be, to introduce and promote the Olympic sport of fencing to neighborhoods in and around Boston, Cambridge and Somerville. Mr. Eddy has been involved with fencing since the early 1970's as a fencer, a coach, and as the parent of two fencers.
In 2005 Mr. Eddy partnered with Vitaliy Nazarenko. Mr. Nazarenko has been involved with fencing most of his life he was an accomplished competitor and is currently a successful coach. He is originally from the Ukraine.
Together in 2005 they invited Daniel Hondor to join the staff as an Epee Coach. Mr. Hondor began fencing at the age of 7 and trained for years until he advanced to the Romanian National Men's Epee Team. He is originally from Romania.
In 2007 Amy Orlando joined the coaching staff as the assistant women's Epee coach.
The entire coaching staff is pleased to offer year round programming in Foil, Epee and Sabre to all age groups and for all levels of training and competition.
