L. Stacy Eddy - Club Director

Mr. Eddy has been involved with fencing since 1978 when he began his training under Maestro Beguinet in Portland, Oregon. Since 1978 Mr. Eddy has competed as an epee fencer, has coached all three weapons and held the position of Director of the Academy of Fencing for five years. He trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado and is certified by the United State Fencing Association (USFA) Coaches College in all three weapons. Mr. Eddy also carries CPR and Sports Medicine certification from the American Red Cross. The opening of Bay State Fencers is the culmination of a twenty-five year passion for and commitment to the sport of fencing.

Mr. Eddy received his BFA from the University of Utah and his MFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Theatrical Lighting Design. Mr. Eddy was a Theatrical and Architectural Lighting Designer for twenty years has been an educator in many capacities over the years, including positions at local colleges; Boston College, Emerson College and Tufts University. During his career as a professional lighting designer Mr. Eddy was involved in producing hundreds of theatre, opera, and film and television productions.

Vitaliy Nazarenko
Fencing Program Director

Vitaliy Nazarenko - Fencing Program Director  - Head Coach: Foil and Saber

Mr. Nazarenko is an accomplished competitor and coach. He is originally from the Ukraine where he began fencing as a young man. He trained and competed throughout high school and college and graduated summa cum laude from Lvov University of Physical Education in the Ukraine. He is a former member of the Ukraine National Team for which he won gold medals at the Ukrainian Championships, European Cup, and USSR National Championships during his fencing career.

Mr. Nazarenko began his coaching career when he returned to his alma mater to coach for three seasons. The following six years were spent with the Dynamo Sport Club in the Ukraine. In 2000 he began his coaching career in the US at the Medeo Fencing Club and Milburn High School, both in New Jersey. In 2001 Mr. Nazarenko accepted the position of Head Coach for the Boston Fencing Club.

2005 marks the beginning of Mr. Nazarenko's partnership with Mr. Eddy as co-owner of Bay State Fencers.

Daniel Hondor
Instructor

Coach - Epee & Foil

Mr. Hondor is originally from Romania. He began fencing at the age of 7; by the time he was in his teens he was a national champion. With long hours of training with his coach Dumitru Popescu and constant competition he quickly advanced to the Romanian National Men's Epee Team. From 1984 to 1990 he was competing in tournaments throughout Eastern and Western Europe from Stuttgart, Germany to Belgrad, Yugoslavia. He and his teammates shared many successes during those years.

In 1990 he was invited to share his knowledge and passion by coaching the Romanian Junior's Team in his hometown of Craiova. Craiova is home to the Romanian Olympic Center for Epee, and was led by Alexander Mironov, one of the most well admired Romanian fencing Champions of his times.

Daniel is pleased to return to fencing and is excited to be part of the Bay State Fencers coaching staff. Bay State Fencers shares his passion for fencing and competitive spirit.
